os Llanos is characterized by its vast grasslands, where the lush greenery seems to extend endlessly, meeting the sky on the distant horizon. This unique ecosystem is home to an incredible array of wildlife, from capybaras and anacondas to the majestic jaguars that prowl the outskirts. The plains come alive with the sounds of nature, creating a symphony of bird calls, the rustling of leaves, and the distant murmur of flowing rivers.

In this plan you'll be traveling each day by horseback from one Hato to the next. Discoving new amazing sightings in each destinations.

DAY 1

Arrival and the Colombian Cowboys

You’ll be collected from the airport in Yopal and take a relaxing journey of around 2-2.5 hours through some beautiful Orinoquia landscapes to the first Hato (Typical farmhouse of the region) of 3 you'll be visiting.

The natural reserve of almost 9 thousand hectares, is formed by a family legacy of a grandfather called Gerardo Zambrano and 3 traditional “hatos”, that has worked since 1908 on preserving the natural wealth and the “llanero” culture of Colombian’s Llanos.

All hatos will offer you lifeful colors, beautiful landscapes filled with the wind in front of a stream and the vast savannah, magical sunrises, and sunsets. A real adventure in Casanare. The natural reserve you'll be visiting is an extensive territory that is home to a large number of species of birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals, numerous herds of capybaras, and large flocks of colorful birds that can easily be found.

On arrival at your first Hato, you’ll be greeted by your guide that is a local cowboy that will show you the territory for the next 4 days.

Following this, you'll be experiencing a guided walk through the ecological trails where you start recognizing the surroundings and will be able to start enjoying magical landscapes and the richness of flora and fauna within the Natural reserve.

After lunch, it is time to start living as a real Colombian cowboy; horseback riding through the savannah for 3-5 hours of this magnificent area in search of some of the many wild animals that thrive in this region.

Be sure to keep an eye out for Capybaras, deer, babillas (small alligators), wild horses, palm and honey bears, iguanas, ducks, howler monkeys, owls, armadillos, foxes, turtles, wild pigs, pumas, and hundreds of species of birds.

Getting back to your Hato as the sun is setting you’ll enjoy a wonderful dinner before relaxing with the sounds of nature as you drift off to sleep.

Check In - Casanare Hato I (Homestead I)

Presenting vibrant hues, stunning landscapes with a gentle breeze alongside a stream and expansive savanna, enchanting sunrises and sunsets. It provides a sense of tranquility, serenity, and rejuvenating comforts.

The Mango and Mamoncillo trees have witnessed four generations of life, making this location one of the finest spots to observe wildlife, unwind, or engage in meditation.

DAY 2

Colombia Time - 10 hr

Today will be pure heaven for wildlife lovers. Take your time to observe and enjoy!

Before the sun rises you'll take a quick coffee or juice before heading out on a typical canoe to see the most amazing landscape with the first sun rays on the tranquil waters and the sound of the birds. You'll be learning about the practice of artisanal fishing created by llaneros for their subsistence.

Next, it's back to the hato for some breakfast and some "me time" before you're off again around 9 am for your second adventure on a horse to your next home of the night. On this tour, you can spot anthill bears, small owls which nest on the ground, foxes, and a large number of birds. Once you go through the canyons you'll see chiguiros, babillas, and herons.

Before and following lunch, you'll have a bit of me time to just enjoy your surroundings before venturing out on another horse ride, now looking for the howler monkey.

Arriving back at your Hato, you'll have time to freshen up before enjoying a bonfire and dinner outside with the light of burning touches providing you with another perfect Los Llanos experience.

Check In - Casanare Hato II (Homestead II)

Located in the deepest part of the Reserve, an enigmatic place surrounded by ravines and forests that are the habitat of wildlife and wildlife.

Its ecolodge-type house has rooms with balconies and bathrooms open to the sky to enjoy the reddish sunsets of the plains that will give you an experience of contact with the landscape and the immensity of the plain.

DAY 3

The daily life in Casanare

Appreciate the majestic llanero sunrise in the early morning and get ready to live an experience of its own of the llanero hatos, learn the ancestral work on how to milk a cow, lasso a foal, brush it, and tie it up. All while listening to the traditional music of the region playing in the background.

Following breakfast, it's time for you to learn how to approach natural resources to create elements that are used in the daily tasks of the cowboys. This workshop is an authentic and cultural experience.

Before lunch, it will be time to go to your last home in the Natural Reserve, where once again you'll be able to see all kinds of birds, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles in their natural environment.

Once arrived at your hato, you will have a traditional lunch and have some me time in the "chinchorros" (Hammocks) before your next adventure.

At 3 pm, your guide will be waiting for you to venture once again into the deep savannah, this time you'll be looking for all kinds of herons and birds such as the Orinoco goose, ducks, Garzon soldier, and Alcaravanes. You'll end your day with the best sunsets you can find all over Colombia.

Arriving back at your Hato, you'll have time to freshen up before enjoying an outside dinner.

Check In - Casanare Hato III (Homestead III)

Enchanting its guests with its bird’s song from dusk, lay on a typical hammock with the savannah’s wind, you can’t miss it.

This Hato is surrounded by the Suarez stream, balancing earth and water. Its vegetation is live and thick with the perfect shadow to enjoy the landscape and its location allows it to receive the gentle winds of the savannah.

DAY 4

A gift from you to the Region

Waking with the sounds of the wildlife and the light peaking into your room you'll rise and enjoy this beautiful sunrise on your last day in this paradise.

After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to this Natural Reserve that gave you a real llaneros welcome into their homes. The best way to show your appreciation for everything that lives here and to leave a mark on this territory is to plant a tree to help to conserve and maintain the llanero forests. So the last thing on your to-do list will be just this.

Transfer to Yopal
